I am a bit of a self-confessed shopaholic. Anyone who knows me can attest to this. Although I usually like to shop either in op shops (see my previous post: How to Op Shop Successfully in Wellington) or online, sometimes I like to go and peruse the racks of my favourite Wellington stores. So time for a blog post about my favourite Wellington boutiques. If you live in Wellington, you will more than likely already know these guys but if you are visiting from out of town and looking to do a little shopping – here are 5 of the best boutiques in Wellington not to be missed:

Lonely Label

I absolutely adore the clothing fro Lonely. It is pretty, light, feminine and absolutely beautiful quality. Their concept store on Victoria Street is as lovely as the clothing, minimalist and warm and welcoming.

A purchase at Lonely is likely to be a splurge, but a great one! Their swimwear and lingerie are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen and well worth the money in my eyes for both design and durability. I also love their commitment to using ‘normal’ sized models.

Kowtow

Kowtow is becoming more and more of an international brand rather than a Wellington only one but their flagship store is still here in Welly. If you are into ethical fashion it’s likely you will have heard of Kowtow for their high ethical certification, clean lines and functional clothing.

The concept store on College Street is stunning and you have to be careful not to accidentally buy everything in there as it all looks so beautiful together.

Good as Gold

Good as gold, the multi-brand fashion and streetwear store is a Wellington Gem. The new store on Victoria stocks lots of local and international brands. They have a great range of denim and trainers too. Think Paloma Wool, New Balance, Kowtow, Rollas, Assembly Label, Yu Mei and loads more. It is independently owned and fantastically curated with all the latest and greatest streetwear brands.

The store is helpfully opposite Lonely for your shopping spree!

Ēnā

This little Leeds Street independent boutique is so so lovely. Ena stocks well curated New Zealand brands that are both ethical and beautiful. I love their range of Penny Sage, Paris Georgia, Georgia Jay and all the other beautiful designers. Think minimal, clean, beautiful fabric and contemporary design. If I could afford it, I would be here all the time.

Hunters and Collectors

Hunters and collectors is the first choice for Wellington second-hand designer clothes shopping in my opinion. Now solely situated on Cuba Street, this independent boutique has been buying and selling the best in retro vintage fashion in New Zealand for over 30 years.

They shy away from trends and fads and focus on individuality and style. Think Vivienne Westwood’s Worlds End Shop vibes. I love everything that is sold in this store and am always impressed by the collection that they manage to create.
